 Summary:
This paper focuses on sediment transport and bed evolution modeling using the active layer approach, thus differentiating sediment particles moving in the form of suspended sediment and near bed and bed sediment. Using this approach the sediment transport equations are developed for all of the considered layers and complemented with equations that define the exchange mechanisms among them. The paper gives a suggestion for the set of equations that can be used for sediment transport and bed evolution modeling in looped river networks.
