 Summary:
The activated sludge process is an oxigen hungry biological wastewater treatment method. The aeration tanks are the heart of the tretment process, where the sufficient dissolved oxygen concentration is the most important factor that influences the plant effluent. The aeration of the activated sludge is not only important for the effluent quality, but also is the largest energy consumer on the whole plant. This paper presents the changes made in the aeration process on the WWTP of Subotica, and the effects it has on the costs and effluent quality.
