LOCAL BUCKLING OF THE WEB OF STEEL GIRDER IN ELASTIC AND PLASTIC DOMAIN

 Summary:
 Starting from the differential equations of elastic surface it is determined the critical buckling load of the rectangular plate. Especially, we consider the case of the local buckling of web due to the load that acts on the plane of the web. The concept of two basic methods is presented: the method of effective width and reduced stress method. These methods are recommended by European standards. An example of the buckling of welded plate girder subjected to partially distributed load with the increase of force until the ultimate load by numerical simulation is done.
