 Summary:
This paper presents the application of reinforced concrete galleries as the most efficient solutions for road and road users protection from landslides and scree of steep cliffs along the road. On magistral road M-16 Banja Luka-Jajce, below steep rock massif, heigh 200-300 m at an angle of 60º-80º there is a risk of landslides and rock fragments ( 2 dm3-500 dm3 ) fall, which cause a constant threat to the traffic participants. In addition, the biggest threat is reduced height of the traffic profile, because of interference alignment in rock mass, so the truck passing is impossible, and often that lead to traffic blockage at this road section, which is unacceptable for magistral road. Galleries elements are designed to protect road users from rocks falls as well as to provide necessary road extension. The main supports, reinforced concrete „T”shaped girders with variable column height along the road, which adapts to the ground, and 3 m long cantilever , anchored with 6 m long anchores in stable rock blocks. Main girders are connected with monolithic reinforced concrete slab. The construction technology had to be developed without complete traffic suspension, becouse there is no any alternative route.
