 Summary:
Period of intensive urban development of Novi Sad in the beginning of 21st century was a result of new social and economic transition faze of Republic of Serbia and neighbouring countries. Real estate development boom caused by positive financial movement was an opportunity for urban revival of the traditional city centre and surrounding heritage areas. Intensive delivering of urban planning documents was followed by intensive production of new buildings. Planning documents were lacking in clear design frameworks and building standards which resulted with irreversible altered image of the heritage zones and therefore, identity of Novi Sad. Urban design study, as part of overall preparation for the new Structural and land use plan of Novi Sad, is an attempt to set framework and to norm standards and rules in urban design of the heritage zones of Novi Sad.
