 Summary:
The building described in this paper has a rectangular shape with dimensions 60×50m at the ground level while upper stories are 44x32m. Height of the building is 20m. Traffic demands in the parking area and architectural demands in upper stories resulted in higher loads, discontinuation of some columns and reduction in their dimensions. This was solved with composite circular columns made from reinforced concrete and steel profiles (Ø70 – Ø100cm). Spans between columns are 7,6 m and 9,0 m, with some spans that are 9,6 m. Calculation and design of columns was conducted according to current domestic codes and Eurocode 4 for combined action of compression and biaxial bending. Most suitable steel profile was defined as welded „I“ profile. Load distribution of columns varies from 4000kN to 11000kN. Steel cross section was constructed from plates with thickness of t=40 mm.
