 Summary:
Index description of roads’ characteristics and pavement structures condition has begun more than 20 years ago in developed countries. Different methodological approaches were used for that purpose. The objective of each approach, i.e. index, is to characterize contribution of pavement structure and condition to performance of road asset, from the point of two relatively different views, road/pavement engineer vs. road user. Paper describes methodological approach for defining pavement condition mark in relation to these two aspects, through indicators related to surface problems (user aspect) and indicators related to structural problems (technical aspect).
