 Summary:
Nowadays, understanding thermophysical behaviour of reinforced concrete elements is important even in the field of structural engineering, because of the increasingly tightening building energy performance regulations and environmental awareness. Additionally, thermal behaviour plays a major role in fire resistance design and evaluation of structures. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the thermal properties of reinforced concretes. We have collected the thermophysical properties (thermal conductivity and diffusivity) from relevant and selected national standards and literature, and compared them with our laboratory measurement results on reinforced concretes and steel fibre reinforced concretes. During the study, we discuss the similarities and differences between various standards and literature, including the presentation of our experiments. This research could further contribute to the development of fire resistant reinforced concrete elements and environmentally conscious structural designs.
