 Summary:
According to the contemporary international heritage doctrine, it is necessary to consider all of the layers arising from cultural influences of peoples who have lived in a particular urban area, through history, on equal bases. The archaeological heritage may be trapped beneath modern urban fabric and presentation of such architectural heritage may be a complex problem. Recently, multi-layered architectural heritage during planned expansion of urban fabric in Serbia and in the region may be threatened by an incomplete evaluation, incompetent heritage management, or lack of professional skills and creativity for the presentation in situ. This paper analyses the recent solutions for the presentation of multi-layered architectural heritage in the region, which are useful for the improvement of urban planning and design of public spaces with a multi-layered architectural heritage of Serbia, due to the similarity of cultural influences.
