 Summary:
Plastic material have a very wide application in modern society, which results in the generation of large amounts of waste. This kind of waste is a big problem for the environment because of it's characteristics such as low biodegradability and the ability to release harmful substances during disposal or incineration. So far have been developed many methods such as recycling and reuse of waste materials. One of them is mixing them with concrete in order to obtain composites with different characteristics, that can be used as construction material. These materials find their large application, such as the production of floor boards without reinforcement. Using plastic fiber instead of steel reinforcement and steel needles brings savings of 42% and 13%, respectively. The price of recycled polypropylene fiber is lower by 9% compared to the price of unrecicled fiber, while the price of recycled polyolefin fibers is 67% lower compared to unrecicled fiber. Besides all the mentioned advantages, for the specific purpose it is necessary to find an adequate method for mixing plastic fibers and concrete, the best shape of fibers and their characteristics.
