 Summary:
This paper presents the results of computer simulated behavior of axially compressed short reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Nonlinear analysis was conducted on numerical model developed by finite element method. All parts of cross section, concrete and reinforcement bars, are modeled with experimentally determined mechanical characteristics. Results of numerical analysis were compared with results obtained on experimental column models. Bearing capacity and behavior of RC columns thru all phases of loading can be accurately determined by computer software.
