 Summary:
Research results of behaviour of precast concrete structures during the earthquakes in the countries affected by seismic actions were used as a basis for a comprehensive study carried out by fib Task group 7.3 Prefabricated / Prestressed structures designed for earthquake resistance. Researches have shown that one of the main preconditions for achieving the seismic resistance of these structures is proper design of connections between structuralelements. This paper presents previous experiences with use of precast concrete structures in seismic regions, with special reference to lessons learned from past earthquakes, from which recommendations for the design of earthquake-resistant precast concrete structures are derived. Some of the most important recommendations are shown in this paper.
