 Summary:
Technology of production of pig iron involves the creation of large quantities of waste materials - slag. For a long time this waste material is deposited and is not used for any use. In recent decades, the world has started to explore the possibility of the use of slag as a building material, as well as fertilizers in agriculture. At the beginning it was shown that the cost of a good material for the bottom of the road, and subsequent research has shown that the possibility of using slag multiple. In this paper we have considered the use of slag as aggregate in asphalt construction and hypo-ground slag as a filler in asphalt. To establish the possibility of using the blast furnace slag as an aggregate in the asphalt, it was necessary to examine the physical-mechanical and chemical properties of the slag, and thereafter to prepare samples for testing. Experiments have shown that the cost of operation'' Steelworks'' (ArcelorMittal) from Zenica be used as aggregate in asphalt, which would contribute to the disposal of this type of waste material, and kept to an aggregate of nature that is usually used for the production of asphalt.
