 Summary:
The purpose of this paper is to present the unique analysis of thin-walled composite beams of open and close cross section. Governing differential equations of thin-walled composite beams of arbitrary cross-section are derived using the principle of virtual displacement, based on the warping function proposed by Prokić. Assumptions of neglecting shear strains in the middle surface is not required, therefore stresses can be calculated directly from the strains, and distributions of normal stresses resulting from warping is not determined by warping function, but by the displacement parameters at selected nodes.
