LAND CONSOLIDATION PROJECTS CHARACTERISTICS

 Summary:
 Land consolidation is agricultural measure which is the issue of interest for professionals, scientists, individual food producers, and agricultural industry. The need for food is increasing and that trend will be held in the future. Agricultural areas are limited and maintenance of their quality is constantly challenged. The only strategy to meet the growing demand for food is to increase production per unit area with continuous cost reduction. Fragmented holdings are an obstacle to the implementation of this strategy. Land consolidation is one of means of proper implementation of mentioned strategy. However land consolidation projects are complex, multidimensional projects that may be exposed to various risks. This paper aims to point out some characteristics of land consolidation projects from the current literature and practice.
