This paper investigates the application of Geoinformation Systems (GIS) and remote sensing in planning green infrastructure, specifically focusing on the design of rain gardens as a sustainable solution for stormwater management. Using a case study based in Austin, Texas, the research integrates elevation models, land cover data, and hydrological tools within the QGIS environment. The proposed design methodology streamlines the planning process by enabling the analysis of drainage areas, soil infiltration capacity, and precipitation data. Results indicate that GIS-supported planning significantly enhances decision-making in urban environmental management, contributing to improved water retention and urban resilience.
